We chose Duolingo for the daily futures, It's an app for learning languages (a culture/education subject), and has good user experience design.
The graphic interface is very simple and minimalistic, and breaks down everything into small sections and lessons - which make something which is very difficult seem very easy. The visual + audio way of learning makes it easier for those who are visual learners, as opposed to how it would be in a classroom setting. It's using the web/app format as a different way to learn something that can be very helpful in everyday life.
The lessons are in short 5 minute sections, so it can be done waiting for the bus, for example. The lessons also adapt to you - so if you're in a place where you cant speak, it will stop prompting you to speak back.
It also teaches you in a variety of ways, both asking you to translate from english > spanish and the other way, to translate from hearing, choosing the words and typing them yourself. There is a progress bar at the top, which goes backwards if you get something wrong - and then uses that word a lot more until you get it right every time, not just once.
